Clyatt, Wortman to marry
Mr. and Mrs. Terre Wortman ofScottsValleyare pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Rae-Michelle Wortman to Michael Edward Clyatt, son of Larry and Laverne Clyatt ofSanta Cruz.
Amanda graduated fromScottsValleyHigh Schoolin 2008 and continued her education at Twin Lakes College of Healing Arts. She is self-employed as a private in-home caregiver for the elderly.
Michael graduated from MonteVistaChristianHigh Schoolin 2002, and has been working in the Carpenters Union for almost 10 years in the Bay Area. 
The two met on their first date. An outdoor wedding is planned for September.
Martial artists earn black belts
Elite Martial Arts inScottsValleywill promote six first-degree black belts at a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16.
Brady Carrillo, Alura Neill, Conner Thomson, Ryan Jensen,Christian Jensen and Nikolas Rieke will all be awarded with first-degree belts. Additionally, Mark Shimmel will be awarded his second-degree belt.
The ceremony will be atDeLaveagaParkinSanta Cruz.
