A group led by Boulder Creek’s Arlene LaBorde and Kay Tomagni delivered 182 baskets and shoeboxes full of goodies to residents of the Santa Cruz Skilled Nursing Center in Live Oak last week.
“We spread the good cheer,” LaBorde said. “It was a task, but well worth it.”
Tomagni played Christmas carols on the piano, and the Rev. Bob Murrin from St. Michael’s Church in Boulder Creek gave a blessing. Boulder Creek antique dealers Susan and Richard Rymer also helped with the festivities.
SV seniors knit for the homeless
Residents of Oak Tree Villa senior living home knitted 50 scarves and hats and donated them to the Homeless Services Center on River Street in Santa Cruz.
Led by Mae Peterson, a group of eight residents at the home got together and knitted the scarves and caps.
The other knitters were Jeanne Bender, Betty Sharp, Beth Godat, Elsie Morales, Lucille Mettet, Jean Whittpen and Joanne Whitaker.
“The energy, passion and expertise of the group is amazing,” said Vanessa Glaser, Oak Tree Villa life-enrichment assistant.
