Mike Brandy of Scotts Valley, a retired vice chancellor of Foothill-DeAnza Community College District in Santa Clara County, is the district’s new interim chancellor.
District trustees asked Brandy to come out of retirement to lead the district while it recruits a permanent chancellor to replace Martha Kanter, who took a federal post.
Brandy, who had been vice chancellor of business services, has been active in the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation and coached girls softball.
Huckvale wins scholarship
Cody Huckvale of Scotts Valley has won a $4,000 scholarship from Builders Exchange of Santa Clara County.
Huckvale — a Scotts Valley High School football and lacrosse player who is active in student government — was among 10 winners of $25,000 in grants in the June Simmons Memorial Scholarship Competition.
The scholarships are available to family members of Builders Exchange members. Huckvale is the son of Don Huckvale, owner of CPR Services Inc., a building contractor.
Wilson takes charge
Lt. John Wilson of the Scotts Valley Police Department is the new president of the Scotts Valley Exchange Club.
He takes the gavel July 1 along with Chris Perri of Apple Homes Development, president-elect; Marion Harwood, secretary; Perry Perri, treasurer; and Dave Hodgin of Pathfinder Consulting, past president.
Rotary honors Resneck-Sannes, Lee
Scotts Valley Rotary Club has presented David Resneck-Sannes, M.D., with an honorary membership in Rotary International’s Paul Harris Society for the humanitarian service he has given to the community.
The society makes contributions to The Rotary Foundation, which supports humanitarian and educational projects.
The club also gave its Distinguished Rotarian Award to Jun Lee, one of the club’s longest-serving members.
Students nab Kiwanis awards, scholarships
The Scotts Valley Kiwanis Club has selected local high school students for a round of awards and scholarships.
Its Citizenship Award went to Grace Berg, Scotts Valley High; The Hope of America Award was won by Mike Otte, San Lorenzo Valley High, and Caitlin Moe, Pacific Collegiate; Samantha Steele of SV High won the Mike Smith $2,500 scholarship; and Darby Bukowski, SLV High, took home the Grabill $1,000 scholarship.
