For a change, Scotts Valley Kiwanis Club members were treated to a meal on Wednesday, July 8, instead of providing a community service, as they usually do.
Allen and Maria Reames provided a Mongolian barbecue at their home for the Kiwanians, frequent providers of charitable funds and works in the area.
“This barbecue is our private way of saying thanks for the time and effort expended by the dedicated people who are behind these good works,” Maria Reames said.
Other service clubs and community organizations will be treated to barbecues in the future, according to Allen Reames.
Johnson makes the grade
Christopher Johnson of Boulder Creek was named to the spring President’s List for academic achievement during the fall semester at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
The President’s List recognizes students who earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
LeTourneau is a Christian university with rigorous academic standards, school Vice President Robert W. Hudson said.
