Local artists featured in county exhibit
Felton’s Nora Sarkissian and Ben Lomond’s Leon Canerot will have their artwork shown in the halls of the Santa Cruz County government center.
Sarkissian, a ceramics sculptor who crafts humanity and nature in an animated way, is featured on the first and fifth floors, while Canerot’s photos of his world travels will hang on the walls of the fifth floor.
Their work can be seen at the county building at 701 Ocean St. in Santa Cruz from Feb. 2 to March 31. A reception is planned from 5 to 8 p.m. March 5.
Financial planner elected treasurer
Michael F. Meara, a certified financial planner with Pacific Mountain Advisors in Scotts Valley, was elected as treasurer of the Santa Cruz Community Foundation board of directors for 2010.
Meara’s credentials include creating the Earth Stewards Portfolio while at Pacific Mountain Advisors, which invests in publicly traded companies that promote environmental sustainability.
He also serves on the board of the Santa Cruz Community Credit Union.
Meara and his family have lived in Santa Cruz County since 1999.
SLV graduate makes dean’s list
Taylor West, a former San Lorenzo Valley High School and Cabrillo College football player, was named to the fall dean’s list at Southeast Missouri State University.
West was one of 2,260 students who earned at least a 3.5 grade-point average in the fall session.
