Kids from Baymonte Christian School may have a new item for their wish list — a hula hoop. Physical education teacher Patrice Fernald introduced “hooping” as a fitness activity for the kids and it has taken off. Last week Fernald and the school hosted the Good Golly Miss Molly Hooping Honeys troupe from Santa Cruz to come and teach the students new tricks.
“I knew that rainy winter days were ahead and I wanted to get the students excited about exercising during this time of year indoors,” Fernald wrote in an email to the Press Banner. “I was super surprised at their response during my PE classes as students started challenging each other to see who could hula hoop the longest and who had the most creative tricks.”
