The body of a missing Boulder Creek woman was found by a local resident in a steep ravine near Lomond Street in Boulder Creek on Saturday, April 6, and the coroner has ruled out foul play.
On Monday, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman as Wendy Rivas, 54.
The cause of death has not been determined, but a medical examination by the coroner’s office determined Tuesday that Rivas was not the victim of any type of foul play.
Investigators are awaiting a toxicology report that takes a week or more to complete to make a final determination. The sheriff’s office is also investigating some medical conditions that might have contributed to her death.
Rivas, 54, was reported missing by her husband at 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 3.
According to her husband, she left their house on the 13000 block of Highway 9 at 10 p.m. Wednesday and did not return home.
Sheriff’s office search and rescue teams searched four miles in every direction from the house before calling off the search Friday afternoon.
A property owner found Rivas’ body in some bushes down a ravine just beyond the boundary of the search area.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release that Rivas might have had a head injury that needed medical attention.

Rivas was the third person found dead of accidents in the San Lorenzo Valley in the past two months.
Roger Jouron, a homeless man, was found dead near the San Lorenzo River in Boulder Creek on March 23. His death was attributed to natural causes.
On Feb. 4, the body of 26-year-old Guadalupe Cortes of Soquel was found partially submerged in the San Lorenzo River. The coroner’s office determined that she died of accidental drowning.
