George Wylie

San Lorenzo Valley School Board member George Wylie announced Wednesday, Feb. 29 that he has withdrawn from the race for 5th District Santa Cruz County Supervisor.
Wylie stated in a press-release that he is stepping aside for personal reasons.
“It has been an exceptional experience over the last few months connecting with members of our community and discussing the issues that are important to them,” Wylie said. “However, after careful deliberation I’ve decided to suspend my campaign.”
A retired Navy and commercial pilot who lives in Brookdale, Wylie has served as an SLV School District trustee for five years and remains on the board.
Four candidates remain in the race to replace outgoing Mark Stone as 5th District supervisor: Eric Hammer of Boulder Creek, Bruce McPherson of Pasatiempo, Bill Smallman of Lompico and Susan Weber of Ben Lomond.
Candidates have until March 9 to file their candidacy. McPherson and Hammer are the only two candidates to have filed a candidate statement as of Wednesday, Feb. 29.
