Based on declining enrollment, including a 50-student drop in charter school enrollment this year, the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District will not re-employ the equivalent of 3.8 full-time employees in 2010-11.
“Even though it seems like an incredibly low number, these people, every one of them, is doing a great job,” Superintendent Julie Haff told the board March 3. “It is not a reflection of anyone’s work.”
Charter school Principal Jay Dunlap is one of the casualties, along with as a social science position at the charter school, an English position at San Lorenzo Valley Middle School and a physical-education position at San Lorenzo Valley High School.
The cuts will save the district more than $282,000 a year.
