Kids’ center hosts children’s carnival
The Children’s Center of San Lorenzo Valley, 8500 Highway 9, in Ben Lomond, will host a Spring Carnival fundraiser and salute to the local sheriff’s department Sunday, May 16.
The carnival will include family-friendly games, face painting, a magician, a clown, activities, food and a raffle. Proceeds from the carnival will benefit the nonprofit center. Admission is free, and tickets will be sold for games, activities and food.

Residents can drop in for wellness in Felton
A drop-in wellness day will run from 1 to 4 p.m. June 5 at the Alternative Healing Center and School, 6630 Highway 9, Rooms 103 and 104, in Felton.
The afternoon will feature sample sessions of massage, Reiki and other treatments for $5.

Bay Fed earns state kudos
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger awarded Bay Federal Credit Union a California medal for service as the state’s Small Business Volunteer Program of the Year.
The credit union earned the award because every Bay Federal employee has volunteered at one of 49 different nonprofits for seven consecutive years.
Also, Bay Fed employees have provided pro bono assistance with marketing, education and outreach; hosted an employee head-shaving extravaganza to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network; orchestrated winter coat drives for children; and collected cell phones to send to military troops overseas.
SV businessman joins Capitola firm
Bob Zufall, who formerly operated the executive search firm BZA Search, has joined Appenrodt Commercial Properties in Capitola as a sales associate.
Zufall ran BZA Search in Scotts Valley for more than 20 years.
Appenrodt Commercial Properties has been active in commercial real estate for 10 years in Santa Cruz County.
