AA Division
Angels 13, Phillies 2
Led by Kobe Payne’s six strikeouts and Charlie Hayes’ 2-for-3 outing with two runs, the Angels scored seven runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. For the Phillies, Nikolaie Heinen stuck out six in two innings.
Red Sox 16, Dodgers 9
There were 37 walks in this game, and the Red Sox turned 10 of them into runs for the win. Shane Morland went 1-for-3 with two runs, and Hunter Reynolds walked and scored twice for the Sox. Andrew Gudnason went 2-for-2 and scored twice for the Dodgers.
Majors Division
Live Oak Yankees 6, Indians 4
Despite Charlie Wiegel’s bases-loaded single in the first, the Indians couldn’t overcome a complete-game showing by Live Oak pitcher Jaidan Taubman.
Phillies 11, Live Oak Giants 1
D’Shawn Hopkins had two doubles and a triple while scoring three times, and Matt Robustelli struck out five Giants batters in three innings to lead the Phillies to a victory in five innings.
Red Sox 10, Live Oak Padres 0
Jared Trader tripled and struck out eight Padres batters in four innings, and Keenan Neu hit his first home run of the year to lead the Sox. Jackson Turner went 2-for-3 with a double and triple and scored twice.
Minors Division
Yankees 2, Cardinals 0
Elliot Brown (five innings) and Ben Kanter (one inning) combined to pitch the shutout. Teammate Scott Poetzinger drove in Stevie Markie and Brown with a single in the fourth inning. Jacob and Julian Auldridge threw well for the Cardinals.
Yankees 13, Pirates 5
Cole Sitton and Elliot Brown went 3-for-3, with Sitton drilling a home run and driving in four. For the Pirates, Jenna Solomon stole home, and teammate David Howe singled and scored on Solomon’s hit in the fifth.
Red Sox 18, Pirates 6
Mark Carling threw 2-1/3 innings while hitting two triples and scoring twice for the Sox. Andrew Chestnut and Howard Forehan tripled, and Shayne Kyabu reached base twice and scored. For the Pirates, Chris Anderson whacked a two-run double, and Jake Hogan went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
SV Little League
AA Division
Volcanoes 5, Bullz 1
Dominic Papagni-Martinez homered and singled to lead the Volcanoes, joined by teammates Brendan Hull, Anthony Petrini and Taylor McAdams, who also had two hits each. For the Bullz, Pranden Marty, Nicholas Morrison, Jaden Ulrich and Cameron van Leuwen each singled.
Knights 4, Riverdogs 1
Knights pitchers Matthew Wu, Kyle Smith and Bryce Clark shut down the Riverdogs. The Knights were led offensively by Clark, Smith, Nico Smith and Skyler Hughett, who each had multi-hit games.
AAA Division
Marlins 10, Braves 4
The first-place Marlins kept rolling as Tanner Steen and Niklas Ohlsson each had two hits, Connor Santos scored twice and Mitchell Gaspar struck out eight of the 11 batters he faced. For the Braves, Joe Murray hit a deep double to left field in the first inning to drive in one run and later crossed home plate for another run.
Majors Division
Rangers 12, Giants 2
Rangers starter Sawyer Stemm went 5-1/3 innings, giving up only one run while striking out eight. The winners turned a double play in the first inning as catcher Tim Wagner, shortstop Trevor Ponos and third baseman Travis Lane combined to throw out Giants runners at home and third. Lane had two doubles and a single to lead the offense, Wagner had a double and a single, and Dalton Locke added two singles. For the Giants, Josh Andersen had a single and a solo homer.
