County clerk elected to new position
Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin will be president of the California Association of Clerks and Election Officials for 2010-12 after she was elected July 15 in Monterey.
Pellerin, who heads up every election in the county, will preside over the nonprofit, which has about 600 members who are county, city or state employees.
The group promotes high standards and efficiency among personnel in the departments of the county clerk, board of supervisors clerk and registrar of voters, while also promoting legislation to improve election processes.
Farewell for Felton pastor
Felton’s Redwood Christian Center pastor, the Rev. Richard Tennesen, has retired after 11 years serving the local congregation.
Tennesen began at Redwood Christian Center on Easter Sunday 1999 and celebrated his retirement July 25. He is a 1975 graduate of Bethany University in Scotts Valley.
Tennesen spent 35 years in ministry. Before Redwood, Tennesen and his wife, Mandy, were pastors in Carmel, Santa Cruz, Brownsville and Seaside, Ore.
The Tennesens will remain at their home in Capitola and continue to be active in local ministries, especially Teen Challenge Monterey Bay, Bethany University and the Evangelical Ministers’ Fellowship.
The Rev. Rose Warren will serve as interim pastor until at least the end of the year. Warren, a longtime Santa Cruz minister, also teaches in the English department at Bethany University.
