Poll workers needed for Nov. 2 election
Election officials are recruiting citizens to staff the 143 voting precincts throughout the county.
Each adult poll worker must be a registered voter. High school students must be at least 16 years old, be U.S. citizens and have at least a 2.5 grade-point average. Pay is $75 for clerks and $100 for inspectors, plus another $20 for attending a training class.
People who speak Spanish are especially needed.
Duties include setting up the polling place Nov. 2, opening the polls, processing voters, closing the polls and delivering election materials.

Weekend voting in Santa Cruz
The Santa Cruz County Elections Department will be open for voting this weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 31.
Ballots can be picked up in person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the County Clerk-Elections Department, 701 Ocean St., Room 210, in Santa Cruz.
Mail-in ballots must be received no later than
8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Kids Vote 2010
Boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade will be able to cast their own votes for California governor with Kids Vote 2010 packets, available at each of the county’s 143 voting precincts.
Each candidate’s name, party affiliation and picture will be provided on the ballot. Issues on the Kids Vote ballot include five of the nine state propositions.
Students do not need to register to go to the polls. Results of the unofficial and nonbinding kids vote will be posted separately from the county’s certified totals at www.votescount.com.
