SLV alum wins top award
Cabrillo College freshman and former San Lorenzo Valley High standout Brook Carroll was recently named the Coast Conference Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player for the 2010 season. Cabrillo is the top seed going into the regional tournament. The Seahawk setter was also named to the first team All-State, and second team All-American teams.
Bethany hoops player awarded player of the week
Bethany University’s Marqus Crawford was selected as the men’s basketball player of the week in the California Pacific Conference. He averaged 24.5 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists, five steals with one blocked shot against Southern Oregon University and the Oregon Institute of Technology at the Midland Empire Insurance Classic.
Softball sign-ups begin
Scotts Valley High girls softball sign-ups begin Dec. 1 online at www.svsoftball.com, and walk-in registration will be at the Vine Hill School multipurpose room, 151 Vine Hill School Road, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. There will be a placement clinic for grades 4 through 8 in late January (TBA) and the season opens the first week in March.

SLV alum caps junior season at Henderson State
Nick Johnson, former SLV and Cabrillo College football standout, finished his junior season at Henderson State University in Arkansas. Johnson ended the season with 31 catches for 470 yards and one touchdown as the Reddies grabbed a share of the Gulf South Conference Championship with a 7-4 record.
Wolverines cap season
The SV/SLV Wolverines youth soccer team completed their regular season with a 1-1 draw against Los Gatos United when Luke Balch scored with just 50 seconds left.
The Wolverines finished with 5 -1- 4, earning them third place in their 10-team league. The league consists of teams from Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.
Matt Olson led the team with 11 goals. Kyle Raymond followed closely with nine. Raymond led the team by supplying seven assists, while Jack Cooper was second with five assists.
