Wet and stormy weather last weekend dumped more than 6 inches of rain on much of the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley, with high winds pulling down trees and knocking out electricity in some areas. Rainfall is expected through Dec. 26 before a letup.
Between 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, and 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 6.14 inches fell in Felton. The season total in Felton is 20.70 inches as of Wednesday, Dec. 22. In 2009, the total to date was 14.83 inches.
In Scotts Valley, 6.67 inches fell over the weekend, raising the season total to 18.55 inches as of Monday.
Boulder Creek’s season total is up to 18.90 inches, and in Bonny Doon, the season total sits at more than 27 inches as of Wednesday. Last year to date, 19.9 inches had fallen in Bonny Doon.
A tree fell across Highway 9 at Oak Tree Ristorante in Felton on Friday night, partially blocking the roadway. Also, a large tree fell across Highway 9 at Mountain Feed in Ben Lomond, blocking the roadway for about an hour Dec. 18. Local residents were first on the scene and reopened the roadway to traffic.
