Patrick William McMillan has been accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point and will begin four years of academic schooling after six weeks of Cadet Basic Training.
McMillan attended Brook Knoll Elementary, Scotts Valley Middle School, and Bellarmine College Preparatory. He played soccer, little league, and volley ball and was a 12-year Boy Scout.
Foursome creates downtown ‘garden’
Melissa Stone, Jan Nelson, Sergio Moreno, and Shirley Fleischman decided to brighten up the intersection of Graham Hill Road and Highway 9 in Felton with an assortment of colorful flowers and plants.
Plantworks Nursery provided the plants, which included lavatera, daylily, society garlic, thyme, erysimum and gazania.
These low water-usage plants replaced the weeds and other overgrown plants in the planter in front of Cornerstone gas station.
Koehring earns masters in art
Sara A. Koehring, a former Boulder Creek resident and San Lorenzo Valley High School grad, graduated from Clark University in Massachusetts with her master’s degree in art on May 17.
Former BC resident to direct Fund for Personal Liberty
Former Boulder Creek resident Martha de Forest, now a Washington resident, is now the executive director of The Fund for Personal Liberty.
This organization has taken on the job of funding the lawsuit Hall v. Leavitt, in which five plaintiffs are fighting for their right to not enroll in Medicare without losing their Social Security retirement benefits.
According to The Fund for Personal Liberty, this case will help these retired persons fight for their rights to make choices about their own health care.
De Forest won the 2001 SLV Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year before moving to Washington.
