San Lorenzo Valley Little League
All-Stars
Jonah Shabry had a terrific performance in the 9-10 year-old All-Star game, pitching 42/3 innings and striking out 11 in a 1-0 shutout. The winning run was scored on a walk with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Robbie Carling doubled in the second inning.
Taj Yanez had a fantastic game in the 8/9 year-old All-Star game, pitching five innings and striking out 12 in a 6-2 victory over Aptos. Scotty MacCool, Justin Rudrow, Tanner Murray and Howard Forehan all doubled in the game and Rudrow had three RBIs.
7-8 year-old Tournament of Champions
The San Lorenzo 7-8 year-olds finished third overall after being eliminated in a heartbreaking game shortened by an imposed two-hour time limit in the middle of the fifth inning with SLV leading Watsonville-American 12-10.
By rule, the score reverted to the score of the last completed inning, at which time Watsonville was up 10-8. It was doubly hard on the young team when the scorekeeper mistakenly announced SLV the winner before realizing the impact of the rule book.
The team had previously defeated San Juan/Aromas 15-1 and Live Oak 9-5 before their first loss to Scotts Valley, a 1-0 decision.

The Astros scored five early runs, but in the third inning, the Padres answered back with four runs of their own.
Taj Yanez, Elliot Brown, JT Matsuoka, and Tanner Murray all had hits, and pitcher Jack Gentry and the defense then held the Astros to three scoreless innings as the Padres piled on 11 more runs for a 15-8 victory.
Gentry tripled in the sixth with the bases loaded and Ben Kanter also tripled with two on in the inning.
The next day, the Padres got up to do it again and faced a tough pitching performance from Astros starter Jake Kim, who struck out six in four innings, giving the Astros the 9-3 win. The Padres finished the tournament with a 7-2 record.

The Dodgers took second place to a tough team from Pajaro Valley.
The Dodgers came on strong in their first contest of the tournament, defeating the Scotts Valley Giants, 4-1. After blowing out the Gilroy Giants, the Dodgers faced the Pajaro Valley Cubs, who, playing as well as the boys in blue, beat the Dodgers, 11-1.
However, the Dodgers bounced back, defeating the Santa Cruz Cubs 2-1, which put them into the championship game against their nemesis, the Pajaro Valley Cubs. The Cubs pitchers tossed a no-hit shutout to hand the Dodgers second place.
