Two more arrests at blighted Felton house
A suspected drug house at 138 Felton Empire Road played the scene of two more arrests Tuesday afternoon, March 29, as deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office made the 14th and 15th arrests at the address since early February.
Keith Boyd, 45, and Anna Richardson, 29, were arrested after deputies spotted them at the home, which had been declared unfit for habitation by the county due to multiple code violations.
Boyd was arrested after it was found that he had a no-bail felony warrant as a result of a probation violation on a methamphetamine conviction. He was reportedly uncooperative and displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Richardson, who was arrested at the same place earlier in March, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing and delaying the deputies and being under the influence of drugs.
Library committee to ask board to approve new plan
After last Saturday’s presentation to the public, a library subcommittee will ask the Library Joint Powers Board to approve a new model for the future of the Santa Cruz County Public Library System. The subcommittee’s new model would be implemented in two phases. The first phase, by January, would begin to increase hours and change staffing levels.
By July 2012, the second phase, Scotts Valley would be open 7 days a week for a total of 48 hours; Boulder Creek 35 hours, five days each week; and Felton, 30 hours, five days each week.
The Joint Powers board will meet to discuss the plan at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, fifth floor, 701 Ocean St.

Director resigns from Ben Lomond Fire
At a special meeting Tuesday, Morgan Scarborough announced his resignation from the Board of Directors of the Ben Lomond Fire Protection District.
After being elected in November, Scarborough bought a home outside the district’s boundary. Per California election law, directors must live within the legal boundaries of the fire district, which makes him ineligible to serve on the board.
Any registered voter who lives within the Ben Lomond Fire Protection District boundaries can apply to serve on the board for the remainder of Scarborough’s term, which ends in November 2012. Applications can be found at the fire station, at 9430 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond.
Completed applications must be returned to the fire station by 4 p.m. April 18.
