Local rider wins blue ribbons
Equestrian riders from the Glenwood Equestrian Center in Scotts Valley competed in the Seven Oaks Dressage Extravaganza in Portola Valley on July 24.
Mei Curry, 15, from Scotts Valley rode her thoroughbred, Rain, in this competition, for two first place wins in two separate dressage classes. The judges noted that Curry had great control over an extremely powerful and lovely mare.
Curry has been riding for eight years and trains with Dee White at the center. She is now eligible to compete in the Seven Oaks Dressage Championship on October 23. Other adult members of the Glenwood Equestrian Center also competed and placed well including Dee White on Remington and Jen Trimble on Reco.
Cheer team selling race tickets
The San Lorenzo Valley High School Cheer Team is participating in a fund-raising
event in conjunction with Infineon Raceway in Sonoma.
The cheer team will receive $10 from every $20 ticket sold by way of the Infineon Web site, www.infineonspeedway.com.
To buy tickets that will benefit the cheer team, go to www.infineonspeedway.com, choose “tickets” then “Fund-Raiser” then “San Lorenzo Valley High School Cheer Team.”
Money raised will be used to help pay for many of the cheer expenses that will be incurred during the upcoming school year.
