
A suspect has been arrested in connection with multiple vegetation fires reported Aug. 19 in Scotts Valley, according to a joint announcement from Cal Fire and the Scotts Valley Police Department.
Firefighters responded around 12:50 p.m. to the 2300 block of Green Hills Road, where multiple small fires were burning on a hillside. Crews from several local fire agencies extinguished the fires, which burned about one-quarter acre. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
An investigation determined the fires were intentionally set. Police obtained and served a search warrant identifying a suspect, who was interviewed by investigators and admitted to intentionally setting the fires.
The suspect was arrested and the case was forwarded to the Santa Cruz County Superior Court. Authorities did not release the suspect’s name or provide additional details.
