Letter: To the Grinch who stole Rudolph

EDITOR,
After my 31 years of decorating my home for the holidays, for my family’s enjoyment and for the enjoyment of the rest of the community, the unthinkable has happened. Someone who thought a plastic reindeer would look better in their yard than ours stole it. Rudolph had been proudly displayed next to Santa in the front of our home for nearly 20 years. This act of blatant disregard for another’s property is the exact opposite of what this season is all about. Instead of giving, you took! This is an act of disrespect to not only our family, but the community as a whole. Throughout the years, I’ve noticed fewer homes in the San Lorenzo Valley are decorated for the holidays. Don’t be a Grinch and cause a holiday blackout in our tightly-knit community. For you, Santa is bringing a lump of cold, black coal; the perfect gift to match your cold, black heart. One thing you probably lack that we have an abundance of is the ability to forgive. Although my teary-eyed 12-year-old daughter would like to forget your thoughtless act, she only wishes, Mr. Grinch, that your heart would grow two times larger than it is now and you’d return Rudolph. Merry Christmas.
