An investigation by detectives from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two Scotts Valley gas station employees Jan. 23 on suspicion of drug use and embezzlement.
According to reports, detectives purchased items from the convenience store at the Unocal 76 station in Scotts Valley and suspected that the clerk, Adarose Seivers, 51 of Scotts Valley, had embezzled money during the transaction. They also reported that Seivers had displayed signs of drug use. Similar activity was alleged to have taken place on two later occasions.
Following what was described as a suspicious transaction Jan. 23, detectives confronted Seivers, who denied any wrongdoing.
After further interviewing, Seivers admitted to stealing money from the store. The amount was not specified.
As they arrested her, detectives reportedly found 0.6 grams of methamphetamine inside Seiver’s purse and determined that she was under the influence of methamphetamine.
Another employee, Carl Austin, 50 of Bonny Doon, was also arrested after detectives noted that he, too, appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine.
