Local manufacturer holds job fair for veterans
Scotts Valley-based Threshold Enterprises will host a military veterans-only job fair next week at its headquarters, 23 Janis Way, in Scotts Valley.
The fair will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the company’s human resources office.
Threshold manufactures and distributes Source Naturals and Planetary Herbals.

Organizing workshop offered
Hestia’s Home Organizing will offer a workshop on household paper management from 1 to 4 p.m. March 3. Those who attend will learn how to organize home offices and paperwork and set up family communication systems.
The workshop is offered through Scotts Valley Recreation at the Skypark classroom, 361 Kings Village Road. The class costs $30 for city residents and $35 for nonresidents.

Business association installs new board members
The Boulder Creek Business Association will kick off 2012 with an installation dinner for three board members.
New members include Ann Marie Conrad of Boulder Creek Hardware, Hallie Green of Greener Thought Productions and Boulder Creek Recreation, and Lindsay Scarborough of Scarborough Lumber.
They join Eric Hammer, board president, and board members Chris Currier, Tonya Silvestri, Carolyn Sanborne, Karen Mayer and Tamara O’Kelly.
The installation dinner will be open to the public Saturday, Feb. 25, at Scopazzi’s Restaurant, 13300 Big Basin Highway, in Boulder Creek. Cost is $40 in advance or $45 at the door.
The association is also accepting members for 2012.

Martial artists learn from master
Eleven instructors from Elite Martial Arts in Scotts Valley attended an eight-hour boot camp conducted by Master Dave Kovar in San Francisco last weekend.
Kovar has black belts in 10 martial arts styles and is known as the “teacher of teachers,” according to Elite’s owner, Elliot Stone.
Stone’s team learned confidence-building strategies, ways to work with challenging students and parent-teacher communication techniques and earned a level-one certification in Kovar Teaching Systems.
Participating team members were Brian Thomson, David Schimmel, Elliot Stone, Elena Jin, Moises Chavez, Jeanne Riedel, Brent Meakin, Peter Donato Leeming, Christian Jensen, Michael Barnes, Alyse Handley and Sydney Andrews.
Investment firm launches new strategy
Scotts Valley’s Niemann Capital Management has launched its new Tactical Global Bond Strategy. According to the company, the strategy is a conservative to moderate investment tool that provides income and the potential for moderate capital growth through a mix of fixed-income investments.
According the firm, the strategy will rotate assets to cash when there is an adverse fixed-income investing environment, to avoid a loss of principal.

Wearable art on display
SueDee’s Quilting, Knitting and More in Scotts Valley will show wearable art pieces by I.B. Bayo through Wednesday, Feb. 29.
Bayo, a Nigerian-born weaver and textile designer, learned traditional dying, weaving and sewing in the country of his birth and has adapted those techniques to Western-style garments for his line of clothing.
The store, at 222-G Mount Hermon Road, is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.
