The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has begun a large-scale search for a 26-year-old woman from Soquel who was reported missing this morning.
The woman, Guadalupe Cortes of Soquel, was reported missing at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 from the San Lorenzo River at Highlands Park in Ben Lomond.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Cortes was last seen Sunday, Feb. 3 at 12:30 p.m. while she was swimming with two men in the river next to the park.
One of the men reported her missing the next morning. Her 1996 green Jeep was found unoccupied by Sheriff’s Deputies in the Highlands parking lot.
Deputies canvassed the area and were unable to find her. They have increased the search to include search dogs and are preparing a water team to search along the river.
