Watershed grant applications due
Applications for classic watershed education grants of up to $2,500 will be accepted by the San Lorenzo Valley Water District until 5 p.m. March 15.
The district offers seven grants to provide funding for education and other projects that enhance the understanding of the San Lorenzo River watershed or improve the watershed’s health. The district is looking for projects that include classroom and outdoor education, as well as projects with a community and public component.
The district will announce the application schedule for data collection and restoration grants at a date to be determined.

Glen Arbor School seeks help
Ben Lomond’s Glen Arbor School will have a community meeting aimed at figuring out ways to keep the school open.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. March 5 at the school, 9393 Glen Arbor Road, in Ben Lomond.
The preschool was created in the 1970s by community members, and its leaders seek donations, ideas and support.

Original food poetry wanted
The Felton Library Friends has invited San Lorenzo Valley residents to submit poems on the theme “food” for the ninth annual SLV Poetry Reading.
Entries must be submitted by March 29. Entries can be sent via email sl**************@***il.com or standard mail to Felton Library Friends, PO Box 1245, Felton, CA 95018.
One poem per poet may be submitted and must include the author’s name, age category, email address and phone number. The age categories are 4 to 8 years old, 9 to 12, 13 to 17, and adult. Santa Cruz County Poet Laureate David Swanger will select the poems that will be read at the SLV Poetry Reading at 7 p.m. April 25 at the Felton Community Hall, 6191 Highway 9, in Felton.
