Just in time for Halloween, the oft-mysterious and sometimes spooky happenings that took place in “The Twilight Zone” television series will take center stage in Ben Lomond.
This year’s show features two episodes from the enigmatic series: “Perchance a Dream” and “Living Doll.”
“Perchance a Dream,” which originally aired in 1959 and is directed by Miguel Reyna, tells the story of a man with a cardiac condition who is terrified of falling asleep for fear he might die.
“It’s a twist within a twist,” Reyna said.
Reyna, in his third year directing “Twilight Zone,” said this is his final year, but the show will surely continue as a tradition at Mountain Community Theater.
“They’re kind of creepy stories. Supernatural things happen.” said co-director Richard Gaughan of Boulder Creek, who is directing the second episode, “Living Doll,” an episode that first aired on TV in 1963.
“It’s an interesting story to me, because it’s a story of evil creeping into an ordinary setting,” Gaughan said.
He said the episodes were chosen for how well they translate to the stage and for the plot twists at the end.
Local actors and actresses include Felton’s Giuliana Alfinito and Laura Greenberg, and Ben Lomond’s Chloe Zehr.
Set design is by J. Duffy, lights by Larry Cuprys, sound by Steve Edmonds and costumes by Amanda Payne.
