The San Lorenzo Valley Foundation for Education, in collaboration with parent-volunteer school clubs, has launched ‘Fund Education!’ This fundraising campaign provides an easy way for community members to make tax-deductible donations to help provide essential resources and innovative programs in support of San LorenzoValley public schools.
“Happy, busy kids learning cool stuff. That is what these clubs are all about,” said San Lorenzo Valley Foundation for Education board president Tom McKay.
Organized by the Foundation, this unusual collaboration allowed the clubs to pool resources and reach out to the entire San Lorenzo Valley Community with a mailer that arrived in SLV mailboxes this week.
Over 2000 students stand to benefit from contributions to this campaign that aims to raise money for the arts, science, technology, enrichment classes, college campus visitation and so much more.
“It is so great to see kids inspired by art and music, and energized by sports. This stuff makes school fun and helps kids stay out of trouble,” said Felton resident Susie Deutsch. “I would love to make those programs available.”
California’s investment in education per student remains below 2008 levels, according to the California School Boards Association, and ranks between 34th and 42nd in the nation, depending on ranking index used.
“Supporting local public schools is a great way to keep our community strong,” said organizer and Foundation board member Catherine Wylie.
The San Lorenzo Valley Foundation for Education is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible, and may be made by check or online by going to the Foundation’s website, SLVFoundation.org.
