Rain pushes to record annual totals

As April storms pound the Santa Cruz Mountains, annual rainfall amounts continue to shatter records dating back decades.
Prior to the current storm, annual rainfall for the current water year (since Oct.1) in Ben Lomond measured 85.99 inches, making it one of the wettest years on record dating back to 1937, according to the Golden Gate Weather Service.
Other water-year rainfall totals include Scotts Valley (75.50 inches), Felton (87.27 inches) and Boulder Creek (76.29 inches).
Though the area basked under warm, sunny skies earlier this week, a significant early-spring storm has brought back heavy rain and fears of more flooding and mudslides this weekend.
Between 2 to 4 inches of rain was forecast to fall in the coastal mountains Friday, tapering off to showers on Saturday.
Dry weather is to follow into next week, with the next threat of rain forecast for next Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
