On Saturday, July 20, from 9am-1pm, the Scotts Valley Farmers’ Market comes to life with Summer Sweets, a FoodShed Project event celebrating all that is sweet, delicious and coming out of the fields and orchards.
Market tables are heavy with stone fruit, berries and the hot crops that are eagerly anticipated—sweet corn, peppers and heirloom and cherry tomatoes.
Meet at the Mountain Feed and Farm Supply for a free workshop from 10-11am, where Jessica Tunis will lead guests into the wild and wonderful world of seasonal salsa. Learn to make it, taste it and take the ingredients home. Stop in at the Boys and Girls Club art table for face painting and say hello to the Santa Cruz Public Libraries’ station to learn about summer programs and pick up a market hunt to win a basket of strawberries.
Blend a smoothie on the bicycle blender using seasonal fruit from the market. Live music hangs in the air and talented cooks roll out delicious breakfast and lunch options.
