Omega Nu of Santa Cruz awarded college and vocational scholarships to 27 students from Santa Cruz County during a Scholarship Reception for the students and their families at the Harvey West Park Clubhouse on May 26.

Over pizza, fresh fruit and home-baked cookies, students introduced themselves and shared the school they will be attending, plus their plans for their studies in the fall.

Omega Nu scholarships benefit high school seniors and Cabrillo transfer students who will attend public California universities, colleges or vocational schools and are based on both financial need and scholastic achievement. This year $122,100 was awarded to both new and renewal scholarships.

The 27 new scholarships were awarded to: Cyan Bakbouchev, Sofia Espinoza, Adan Jarquin, Yolanda Lopez and Zen Weaver of Aptos High School; Najia Fayez, Kaylee Gooch, Bailey Manoff and Scarlet Martin of Cabrillo Community College; Lillianna Bradley-Garcia of Delta Charter High School; Demetri Cook, Fiona Seikel and Brooke Wright of Harbor High School; Leia Lindsay of Pacific Coast High School; Amara Anderson, Ryu Cirillo, Chloe Jezequel-Smith, Mia Ramirez and Xander Shulman of Santa Cruz High School; Brady Clark of Coast Redwood High School; Biri Gonzalez, Michelle Moreles-Ramirez, Martin Ortega-Fabian, Vanessa Serna, Nayeli Serna Nuñez and Mallely Valdez-Garcia of Soquel High School.

Omega Nu of Santa Cruz is an entirely volunteer group of more than 50 women that raise money to provide vocational and college scholarships, support to charities and community services, and grants to public elementary and middle school teachers for classroom materials. Among the fundraisers is Omega Nu’s 37th annual Ducky Derby, which will be held at Harvey West Park on April 24, 2027.
