Applications are being accepted through Nov. 15 for Santa Cruz County poet laureate, an honorary position intended to promote poetry, creative expression and diverse voices throughout the community.
Santa Cruz Public Libraries is coordinating the application process with the county Department of Parks, Open Spaces and Cultural Services, Arts Council Santa Cruz County and Poetry Santa Cruz.
The poet laureate will help create connections among residents and increase access to local cultural resources. The position will be filled through a community panel process, followed by an official appointment by the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors.
Applications and supporting materials must be submitted through the library’s website at santacruzpl.org/poetlaureate. Spanish-language information and applications are available at santacruzpl.org/poetalaureado.
Those unable to apply online can download a PDF application or pick one up at a Santa Cruz Public Libraries branch. All required supporting materials must be included for an application to be considered complete.
