Scotts Valley 9-10 year-old all-stars
Scotts Valley 14, San Lorenzo Valley 8
Scotts Valley’s 10-year-old all-star team scored seven times in the fifth inning en route to a 14-8 victory over San Lorenzo Valley. Carson Spence hit a 2-run homer. Ben Lemus had two hits and three RBIs. Ryan Bariteau had two hits and two RBI’s and scored twice. Garrett Hormel scored three runs and Trevor Stocker, Zach Snider, and Spence each scored twice. Henry Danner reached base safely three times and Zac Yates hit the ball off the fence. Both Jacob and Julian Auldridge reached base four times and scored twice for SLV. Chris Anderson and Steven Markey each reached base three times and scored a run, while Cody Edgemon and Andy Wise each had a single and an RBI.
Scotts Valley 12, Santa Cruz American 7
In their next game, Scotts Valley’s 10s scored 11 runs against the Santa Cruz American in the fourth inning to come back from a 7-1 deficit to win 12-7 in a four inning game. Ryan Bariteau led the attack for Scotts Valley, with three hits and four RBI’s. Connor Wilson was 2-for-2 and scored two runs, Garrett Hormel and Trevor Stocker each reached base all four times up. Carson Spence also reached base all four times, and was given a rare honor when he was intentionally walked with the bases loaded in the top of the first inning.
Scotts Valley 8 and 9’s
The team began the 2011 District 39 tournament by defeating Capitola-Soquel 14-1. Scotts Valley’s Philip Garrison struck out five in four-plus innings. Bryce Gundersen, went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Sören Burns was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Casey Collins was 2-for-3 and Bryce Clark, Shane Burns and Kyle Smith all added one hit.
The team then beat Santa Cruz American 12-0. Kieran Ruf and Philip Garrison each doubled, singled and had two RBIs. Bryce Gundersen was 2-for-2 and Kyle Smith, Angelo Segretto, Dillon Danner and Shane and Soren Burns singled. Dillon Danner pitched four two hits.
7 and 8 year-old all-stars
Scotts Valley 6, San Lorenzo Valley 3
Scotts Valley defeated San Lorenzo Valley in the 7-8 year-old All Star championship game. The game went into the sixth inning with Scotts Valley holding a 6-1 lead, as SLV had their bats come alive and scored 2 runs but the defense of SV held on for the win going undefeated in the tournament

12-year-old All-Stars
SLV 13, Pajaro 3
SLV’s offense exploded for six runs in the third, and four more in the fourth. Matt Robustelli pitched four strong innings, and doubled. Thomas Moore doubled and Jackson Turner homered. Matt Siordia doubled in two runs. SLV’s defense picked off three Pajaro runners.
SLV 13, Live Oak 4
Down 1-0 in the third with two outs, things weren’t going SLV’s way. Then Tanner Murray bunted for a single, Thomas Moore walked, and Jack Gentry was hit by a pitch after a 7 pitch, 2-strike at-bat. Up stepped Jackson Turner who knocked a grand slam to deep left and SLV had the lead. They added more with hits that included 2 doubles from Mateo Ballas, a single from Matt Siordia, and a single form Matt Robustelli. Pitchers Gentry, Turner, and Murray gave up some hits, but solid defense held Live Oak.
SLV 7, Aptos 6
Down by 1 with two outs in the sixth, SLVs Kyle Young walked, stole second and scored on a double by Christian Carney, who later stole home for the winning run. Vinny Prograce came in to get the final 10 outs with no runs. Aidan Callahan started and struck out 5.
SLV 15, Pajaro Valley 14
SLV pulled out another nail bitter in the 7th inning. SLV got solid pitching to keep them in the game by Reid Olmsted and Christian Carney pitched the later innings to close the game out in extra innings. Chris Markey reached base in the seventh, stole second and third and scored the winning run on a single by Quinn Herzon.
