Owners of several dozen of the world’s most expensive luxury automobiles stopped at the Tyrolean Inn in Ben Lomond for lunch during a Santa Cruz Mountains wine-tasting tour Saturday, May 9.
Lamborghini Club America members stepped out of their low-slung, 12-cylinder Italian sports cars, leaving a handful of local passers-by to marvel at the streamlined designs. The cars, the older models of which were handmade, fetch prices reaching well into six figures.
Lambos aren’t perfect, though, according to one owner.
Sanford Campbell of Redding, inventor of the self-propelled swimming pool cleaner, said some models have too little headroom for his 6-foot frame. Campbell had driven his Ferrari, he said, because his Lambo is a hard ride for a long trip.
On the next day, things were quite the opposite. The Tyrolean hosted a tour group of Borgward owners. The low-budget German semi-compact was manufactured from the 1930s through the 1960s.
