The San Lorenzo Valley High softball team’s season ended May 28 in an 8-0 loss to Notre Dame of Belmont in the semifinals of the Division III Central Coast Section tournament.
Starting pitcher Sam Lipperd took the loss as Belmont scored runs in each of the first four innings, including a four-run second frame.
The Cougars managed just three hits.
This was the last game for SLV’s super seniors Lia Henry, Caitlin Bahu, Sam Lipperd, Whitney Heuser and Meghan Kelly, who have played together since middle school.
The group provided the leadership that led to SLV’s 25-7 overall record, first outright league title since 1988 and second straight CCS semifinals appearance.
