A road resurfacing project began on Pine Flat Road in Bonny Doon last week and will continue for four days in August.
The $358,400 project will cause delays on Pine Flat Road on Thursday, Aug. 6, and Aug. 28 through 30 while crews from Granite Construction complete the repaving.
Drivers can expect delays of up to one hour during the late-August work, said Caltrans official Cristina Crocker.
“We are encouraging residents to go around if you can,” Crocker said.
The project is part of the 2009 Road Reconstruction and Overlay program funded by the federal stimulus package passed by the Obama administration this year.
About $6.5 million in federal money will be spent repairing roads in Santa Cruz County.
Bear Creek Road in Boulder Creek will also be under construction in August.
Work will begin Monday, Aug. 3 to install a retaining wall and improve the roadway on Bear Creek at a location about 5.35 miles from the town of Boulder Creek.
Lanes will be periodically closed at that location from August through October while crews shore up the road.
