Last November, the Scotts Valley community made a powerful investment in its future by approving Measure O, an $85 million school facilities bond dedicated to upgrading and modernizing our campuses.
Since the bond measure passed, the District has been working behind the scenes to plan, design, and move forward with the first phase of improvements. One of the first major milestones has now been reached.
We recently received final approval from the Division of the State Architect for the Scotts Valley High School Stadium and Field Modernization Project. Plans were originally submitted to the state in August 2025 and, following the required review process, approval was granted on March 12, 2026.
With this approval in place, the District plans to break ground during Spring Break 2026, allowing construction to begin while minimizing disruption to students and instruction.
The project includes a full renovation of the Scotts Valley High School athletic stadium and field and will provide students and the community with a safe, modern facility designed to support athletics, physical education, and school events.
Planned improvements include:
- A new synthetic turf field for football, soccer, and other sports
- A new all-weather running track to replace the deteriorating surface
- Permanent bleachers for spectators
- A press box for announcing and media coverage
- Restroom facilities to serve the stadium area
- Concession Stand
A safe, modern track-and-field is more than an athletic facility. It supports student wellness, builds school spirit, and creates a gathering place where our community can come together to cheer on students and celebrate school pride.
While the stadium project is an exciting first step, it is just one part of the broader work made possible through Measure O. In the months ahead, the District will continue advancing improvements across all four schools, including projects focused on campus safety, infrastructure upgrades, and learning environments.
We are committed to keeping the community informed as this work progresses. Future updates will continue to be shared as key milestones are reached.
Thank you again to the Scotts Valley community for supporting Measure O and investing in our schools. Together, we are building the future for Scotts Valley students.
Tanya Krause is the Superintendent of the Scotts Valley Unified School District.
