Motorists should expect intermittent delays of 20 to 30 minutes on Highway 236 in Boulder Creek next week as Caltrans replaces culverts near Oak Avenue between China Grade Road and Highway 9.
One-way traffic control will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19. Overnight work from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. may be needed on Thursday and Friday.
The culvert replacement is unrelated to the slip-out that occurred on Highway 236 this winter.
Beginning June 22, Highway 236 will be completely closed for three to four weeks while contractor Anderson Pacific Inc. of Santa Clara repairs the major slip-out that washed out a lane during heavy rainfall in March.
The project will cost $750,000.
The damaged roadway is about 2½ miles north of Highway 9 in downtown Boulder Creek.
Motorists who need to reach upper Highway 236 can take a detour from Alba Road in Ben Lomond to Empire Grade Road and then to Jamison Creek Road, which connects to Highway 236 above the slip-out.
Motorists can also meet Highway 236 on Highway 9 before the entrance to Castle Rock State Park.
