Letter: Help students be S.T.A.R.s

EDITOR,
I am a teacher at Scotts Valley High School, and I would like to declare my full support of the California S.T.A.R. examinations that begin next week. Over the past couple of years, our students have greatly improved in both their participation and scores on the S.T.A.R. exams. This is of great benefit to our school and everyone in our community.
As high school teachers, we lend our support to the S.T.A.R. exams by purposefully limiting homework assignments and other classroom testing during examination week. Let’s help Scotts Valley High School build on its success by encouraging all students to be in attendance and give full effort during this important week.
