Clarifications on County Animal Shelter, Foundation
I was very honored to be featured in Janet Janssen’s Strictly Business, “Behind the Scenes of Saving Animals,” May 29 piece. I hope it shined a light on the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter’s role in this county and how much the Foundation helps support their mission.
I did want to set the record straight on a couple of items in the article. I am the president of the Foundation (not the executive director, which is the only paid position filled by Nga Trinh-Halperin). The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter and Foundation are not affiliated with the Santa Cruz SPCA, which is a separate organization.
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter, which takes in over 6,000 animals a year, including strays and owner surrenders. Additional information can be found on the county shelter website scanimalshelter.org.
