Library talk on paleolithic local history

Interested in art and/or the Stone Age? Scotts Valley Library — in conjunction with the Santa Cruz Archeology Society — has arranged a presentation on April 21 at 7:30 p.m.
The guest speaker is archeologist/artist Mark Holsapple who will take us back 40,000 years “to view the who, what, when, where, how and why of just a few of the many artworks created by these ancient artists with modern minds.”
Holsapple is a Santa Cruz resident and former student of Rob Edwards at Cabrillo College. He studied Archeology at the University of New Mexico under the renowned Dr. Lewis Binford.
Holsapple is also an artist therefore his archeological focus was primarily on Paleolithic Ice Age Europe and the art our Cro-Magnon ancestors created. He has visited many of the French Ice Age cave sites and has been involved in many prehistoric field site projects as well as multiple Santa Cruz area historical excavation sites under the leadership of Rob Edwards.
