A local spa owner has a promotion to help support hard workers of the community.
Jenny Hodgins, the owner and operator of Skin Treatment & Acne Center at 5800 Valley Drive in Felton, is a licensed esthetician and acne specialist with an idea.
Hodgins will give away a free spa package to someone who has made a difference in the community. Hodgins is looking for someone who gives of their time and effort. Community members are encouraged to send in nominations.
When her grandfather died, Hodgins received a massage. After seeing what an impact it had on her life and wellbeing, Hodgins decided she wanted to share her experience with others.
“I wanted to do something that involved the heart,” Hodgins said.
She makes warm heart-shaped pillows filled with rice, lavender, and healing chemicals that are used during her therapeutic treatments, and utilizes rhythm touch and aromatherapy to help people relax and take time to renew their own wellbeing.
“I help people reduce their adrenaline, which releases the body’s natural healing chemicals,” Hodgins said. “It’s really a place to come and receive care, comfort, relaxation and beauty services.”
Hodgins involves herself with two different types of facial treatments: clinical and relaxation.
Clinical facials help to keep skin healthy, whereas relaxation, or heart-centered, facials help to reduce adrenaline.
“I do clinical and relaxation therapy, and each session is tailored to each client and what their needs are that day,” said Tricia Lisle, Hodgins’ co-worker at Skin Treatment & Acne Center.
Hodgins graduated from the Holistic Life Institute in Oakdale, and Lisle graduated from Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts in Santa Cruz.
There is more than just picking up a product for dry skin or anti-aging, according to Hodgins.
“Taking into account lifestyle, habits, correct products for your unique person, and care routines is key in getting results,” Hodgins said.
Currently Skin Treatment & Acne Center is in the midst of change, but will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any first time client will receive a $20 discount.
