Boulder Creek Community Radio hosts Spring Pledge drive

Boulder Creek Community Radio, on the air for the past 10 years, broadcasting at 89.3FM and streaming at KBCZ.org, is holding its Spring Pledge drive on April 26-27.

There will be special programming all weekend from the crew of volunteer DJs and interviews with a variety of local people and organizations. In Felton, look for the Community Outreach Booth and stop by to make a donation, or say hi and pick up a KBCZ T-shirt, mug, sticker or pin.

On Saturday, KBCZ will host a Community Night from 5-8pm at the Boulder Creek Pizza Pub with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the station.

Money raised through this pledge drive will go toward KBCZ’s brand new Studio B, set to open on Pledge Drive weekend, which will help provide more access to people in the community wanting to record their own podcasts, do interviews and in-studio performances, or learn more about radio.

A variety of items will be available for various donations, including tickets, two brand-new 65-inch Roku TVs, an original painting by muralist Yeshe Jackson, wine and more.

Donations can be made by calling 831-703-4420, by dropping into the studio at the stop sign in Boulder Creek, or by visiting KBCZ.org.

Celebrate nature and creativity at first-ever Art in the Park

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and California State Parks will debut Art in the Park, a new community event celebrating creativity and the natural beauty of Wilder Ranch State Park, on Saturday, April 26, from 11am-4pm.

Set against the stunning backdrop of coastal bluffs and winding backcountry trails, Art in the Park will be a day of art, inspiration and outdoor exploration. Visitors are invited to experience Wilder Ranch through the eyes of local and regional artists. This immersive event will feature a diverse lineup of creators who draw their inspiration directly from nature, offering live art demonstrations, exhibits and opportunities to connect with the artistic process.

More than 20 painters, photographers, mixed media specialists and more will be participating in Art in the Park, including several who will lead workshops.

Admission is free; however, there is a cost for parking, which helps Friends support the park.
