Celebrate laughter at comedy show Friday night

A very special evening of comedy is set for Friday, March 1, at 7:30pm at the Scotts Valley Cultural and Performing Arts Center.

The “Global Comedy with Kiry Shabazz” event will be hosted by DNA, voted Best Comedian in Santa Cruz for the past five years, and all sales of beer and wine will go directly to the Scotts Valley Community Theater Guild.

Kiry Shabazz is a standup from Cleveland who started comedy in Nor-Cal and is now based in LA. Shabazz was one of 1,250 standups who auditioned at open calls for the annual Stand Up NBC Competition, and went on to win the entire competition.

Other comedians featured include Brooke Henichen, Raedene Harborth and Josef Anolin, plus there will be live music.

Dem Club hosts election night watch party

The Democratic Club of North Santa Cruz County will join the Monica Martinez campaign for an election night watch party at the Trout Farm Inn on Tuesday, March 5, at 7pm.

The evening will celebrate the efforts of volunteers who worked hard to get out the vote in support of the club’s endorsements of Monica Martinez for Fifth District County Supervisor and Measure K, the County’s Sales Tax ballot measure.

The Trout Farm Inn is located at 7701 East Zayante Road in Felton. No-host food and drink will be available. The public is welcome to attend.
