SLVHS Interact Club hosts first Community Egg Hunt

San Lorenzo Valley High School’s Interact Club will be hosting their first Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary’s Field of Dreams (7155 Highway 9 in Felton) from 9am-12pm.

The free event is for children ages 3 to 12 years old. This is a bring-your-own-basket event, though there will be a small amount for any families that do not have a basket.

The Egg Hunt schedule is as follows: Egg Hunt #1 begins at 9:30am for ages 3-6; Egg Hunt #2 begins at 10:30am for ages 6-12; and Egg Hunt #3 begins at 11:30am for ages 6-12.

SLVHS Interact Club will also be collecting donations for the Walnut Avenue Family and Women’s Shelter. Those attending are asked to bring a donation of a new item, such as diapers, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, socks, etc.

Donations are not required to attend, but are greatly appreciated.


Roaring Camp plans Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt

Hop aboard Roaring Camp’s Forest Train for an Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt on Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31.

Upon arrival atop Bear Mountain, children can hunt for eggs, candies and special prizes; the Easter Bunny will be there too. Other activities include gold panning, games and crafts.

Trains depart at 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm. Reservations are recommended. For information and tickets, go to roaringcamp.com/events.

Roaring Camp is in Felton, six miles north of Santa Cruz. Exit State Route 17 at Mt. Hermon Road (Exit 3) and drive four miles to Felton, turning left at Graham Hill Road. Roaring Camp is .5 miles down the road on the right.


Free chipping services available from Resource Conservation District

The Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County is launching its No-Cost Community Chipping Program to help residents create defensible space around their homes in high wildfire risk areas. 

The program offers no-cost chipping for residents who trim vegetation within 100 feet of occupied structures or 10 feet on either side of a private road.
