RTC to host Informational Community Session on bridge infrastructure
Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is hosting an Informational Community Session on bridge infrastructure related to the Zero Emission Passenger Rail and Trail (ZEPRT) project.
Community members and interested stakeholders are invited to participate in this Informational Community Session to hear project updates and ask questions.
The session will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 6pm and focus on bridge infrastructure on the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line. The meeting will include a presentation on rail bridges, which may be slated for repair, rehabilitation or replacement. Information on conceptual bridge design types for bridges proposed for replacement will also be provided.

The ZEPRT project proposes new passenger rail service and stations on approximately 22 miles of the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line and 12 miles of Coastal Rail Trail: Segments 13-20 as well as the Capitola Trestle reach (Segment 11, Phase 2).

Final call to submit feedback for Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
San Lorenzo Valley Water District can receive grant funding for projects that protect it from natural and human-caused risks, such as droughts, wildfires and cyberattacks. The first step to receive funding is to complete a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP).
The draft LHMP plan is now available at slvwd.com/projects/pages/local-hazard-mitigation-plan. The public is invited to provide feedback on the hazards identified and suggested strategies to mitigate the threat.
Input can guide some of the District’s project priorities for the next five years.

Nominations being accepted for Visit Santa Cruz County board seats
Visit Santa Cruz County (VSCC) is now accepting nominations for its Board of Directors. Three of the four vacant seats must be filled by representatives of the local lodging industry; the fourth seat is designated for an at-large-member.
VSCC is governed by a 25-member Board of Directors composed of representatives of various regions of the county, 13 lodging seats and a cross-section of representatives of businesses, cultural, governmental and organizations with affiliation to the travel and tourism industry.
Responsibilities include participation in the governance of the organization, general advocacy for the tourism industry, and active participation at board meetings held six times per year. Board terms are two years in length and begin with the new fiscal year on July 1, 2025.
The VSCC Nominating Task Force will review all nominees for board seats.
