Brewgrass Festival brings music and brews to Felton

The fourth annual Brewgrass Festival will be coming to Roaring Camp on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Enjoy Bluegrass music, brews from local breweries and food from popular local food trucks. Presented by Roaring Camp and Legend Theatrical, headliners include The Lil’ Smokies and Lindsay Lou.

Festival goers are invited to sign up for the VIP Brewgrass Tasting Train round trip from Santa Cruz to Roaring Camp. The train departs Santa Cruz at 12pm and offers tastings by Shanty Shack Brewery, Woodhouse Brewery and Scrumpy Cider Co. The return train departs Roaring Camp after the last performance around 8:30pm.

St. Andrew’s hosts Welcoming Sunday with worship, free concert

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ben Lomond invites the community to a Welcoming Sunday / Fall Kick-Off this Sunday, Sept. 15.

An open and affirming Worship Service begins at 10am—all are welcome to receive the sacraments whatever your spiritual path or background. After this one-hour service, all are invited to an Ice Cream Social in the Parish Hall. Then from 11:30am-1:30pm, all are invited to a free concert with local all-female bluegrass band Sugar by the Pound.

All these offerings are free and open to the public, and one can participate in any or all of them.

North County Dems to host candidate endorsement forum

The Democratic Club of North Santa Cruz County will hold a candidate endorsement forum on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The virtual meeting will include local candidate races for Scotts Valley City Council, Scotts Valley School Board, SLV Water District, and Felton, Scotts Valley and Boulder Creek Fire Districts.

Oktoberfest Santa Cruz celebrates 25th anniversary

Oktoberfest Santa Cruz is the longest running independent-neighborhood Oktoberfest event in Santa Cruz County, and its 25th anniversary celebration is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, from 12-4pm.

This event is hosted by Messiah Lutheran Church at 801 High St. in Santa Cruz.

For its anniversary, Oktoberfest Santa Cruz will be having a German Costume Contest at 3pm. Prizes go to Best Couple and Female and Male Singles.

Come and enjoy homemade German food and a large selection of German beers and wines. Entertainment provided by “The Thirsty Nine” Polka Band. Family entertainment includes a Live Petting Zoo from 12:30-2:30pm.
