Music at Skypark concert series ends season Sunday

The free community-wide outdoor Music at Skypark concert series finishes its 15th season on Sunday, Sept. 29, at Skypark in Scotts Valley. 

The concert features The Shady Rest Band from 1:30-3pm, followed by the headliner Extra Large from 3:30-5pm.

The all-volunteer Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley will sponsor this concert and dedicate all profits to the music and arts programs at local public schools.

Kiwanis and local businesses will offer food, wine, beer and other concessions for sale. There will be kids’ activities and plenty of dancing.

Dems urged to get informed and involved in November election 

The Tuesday, Oct. 1, meeting of the Democratic Club of North Santa Cruz County will be the last meeting before Election Day on Nov. 5.

The meeting will be interactive with opportunities to discuss the state propositions on the November ballot and meet the club’s endorsed candidates. Get Out the Vote postcards will be available as well as yard signs and materials of the club’s endorsed candidates and campaigns. 

With ballots being mailed on Oct. 7, club members and members of the public are encouraged to get engaged and involved in the critical upcoming election.

Club meetings are held upstairs at Bruno’s Bar and Grill, located at 230 Mt. Hermon Road in the Kings Village Shopping Center in Scotts Valley. Meetings start at 6:30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.


Non-partisan forum on state ballot props set for Oct. 4

League of Women Voters Santa Cruz County is sponsoring a non-partisan forum on Friday, Oct. 4, to help voters understand the pros and cons of the 10 state ballot propositions—everything from building schools to prisons, rent control and drug crime penalties—in the November election.

Be an educated voter by attending this free forum from 10:30am-12:30pm at Capitola Branch Library, 2005 Wharf Road, in Capitola. Guests will also receive a free copy of the LWV Easy Voter’s Guide at the forum.
