SLVHS Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament Fundraiser

On Saturday, October 24, the SLVHS Cougar Basketball team will be hosting a poker tournament in hopes of raising money for this season. Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and poker starts at 6:00 p.m. at Felton Community Hall, 6191 Hwy. 9. Normal price  is $100, but the first 50 people to sign-up and pay can get $25 off and only pay $75 for dinner and night of poker and fun.

It is still a wonderful life

From November 7th to 21st, Cabrillo TheatreArts will present the world premiere of a Kaufman and Perri musical, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The contemporary version of the classic Christmas tale still asks the question, “Who can know the hearts we touch and the lives we change?”

Robert “Bob” Hulsey passed away on September 28, 2015. He was born on September 11, 1935 in Leadwood, Missouri, to Carl and Alberta Hulsey. He moved to California in high school. He graduated from FresnoState with a degree in criminology.

Come, celebrate community service

The Valley Women’s Club invites the entire community to honor the 2015 recipients of the Hammer-Marcum Award. On Sunday, October 25th, 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Highlands Park Senior Center, the recipients will receive their awards for extraordinary volunteer service to the community. This year the award goes to Hallie Greene and Jim Rapoza.

A pleasant surprise in the PG&E Bill

Along with this month’s bill, which was considerably lower than last month’s, PG&E enclosed an explanatory leaflet, “What is the California Climate Credit?”Customers are to receive a credit twice a year (April and October) and are encouraged to use the savings to upgrade older appliances, light bulbs, etc. for newer energy-saving models.
