Water System Work Begins June 16

BOULDER CREEK — Construction work will soon delay motorists as the San Lorenzo Valley Water District starts construction on the “Regional Water System Emergency Intertie No. 6,” connecting the SLVWD Felton Water System and the SLVWD North Water System. The project will allow the separate water systems within the District to share water supply resources during emergencies such as fire or natural disaster.

On Saturday, June 21, 2014, Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter and Friends of Watsonville Animal Shelter will host the Healthy Dogs Shots Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Planned Pethood South Clinic, 150a Pennsylvania Ave. (one block north of Ramsay Park) in Watsonville. Dogs will receive FREE rabies shots, FREEdistemper/parvovirus shots, FREE microchips (includes registration) and information on low-cost spay or neuter options.

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Richard “Ernie” Poston died Monday, May 19, 2014. Poston was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1935. He served the public on the San Antonio police force after military service in the US Navy. He relocated to California in 1966, eventually settling in Boulder Creek.

One of these for me, and thousands others, was San Lorenzo Valley High’s Lee Overbeck, who died Wednesday from leukemia.
