Felton Empire Road was shut down for part of the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 19, while Cal Fire crews battles a wildland fire that charred at least a quarter of an acre of land in the Fall Creek region of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

The final curtain dropped on the former Performing Arts Center at San Lorenzo Valley High School, as demolition crews from Salinas-based Tombleson Inc. spent Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 12 and 13, tearing down the venerable building.

A Felton woman was arrested on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara on suspicion that she had posed as a nurse.
